How the Windstar Cruises military discount works

Since Windstar does not run its own military program, the savings come from us. We start with Windstar's lowest available fare for your yacht, date and suite, including any promotion currently offered, and then take at least 5% off the cruise fare. Taxes, port fees and air are not discounted.

That stacking matters with Windstar, which often runs promotions such as package inclusions or reduced deposits. You keep those and add our military savings on top. On select sailings, our travel consortia memberships add onboard credit or other amenities as well.

Who qualifies

Active duty, retired military and all veterans qualify, along with all military and veteran spouses, including surviving and divorced spouses. Family and friends traveling with you receive the same discount in their own suites or staterooms.

Windstar's small ships suit groups well. A reunion of a few couples can feel like it has the yacht to itself on a ship this size.

The Windstar fleet

Windstar's yachts fall into two families. The Wind Class ships carry working sails and give the line its signature look. Wind Surf carries 342 guests, while Wind Star and Wind Spirit each carry 148.

The Star Class yachts are all-suite ships. Star Pride, Star Breeze and Star Legend each carry 312 guests in ocean-view suites, and newer Star Class ships are joining the fleet. Every Windstar ship is small enough to reach secondary ports and tender into quiet coves.

What is included, and what is not

Windstar's base fare covers your suite or stateroom, all meals including specialty restaurants, 24-hour room service, non-alcoholic drinks, coffee and tea, onboard entertainment and watersports from the stern marina when the ship is at anchor. Menus change nightly and draw on dishes from James Beard Foundation chefs.

Gratuities, Wi-Fi and alcoholic drinks are not in the base fare. Windstar sells an All-Inclusive Package that covers all three, and it is sometimes included as a promotion. We will tell you whether it is part of the fare for your sailing so you can compare apples to apples.

Windstar covers a wide map for a small fleet. Popular regions include Tahiti, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Iceland, Alaska's Inside Passage, Asia, Costa Rica and the Panama Canal, plus transatlantic crossings.
